Street Name Changes
§ 14.01.320Naming or Change of Name; Procedure.
§ 14.01.320Naming or Change of Name; Procedure.
Whenever the City Council finds that a name should be adopted or that the existing name of any street should be changed, the City Council shall hold a public hearing on the proposed name for, or the change of name of, such street. In addition to any other noticing requirements under this Code, notice of such hearing shall be given by posting notice in at least three public places along the street or streets proposed to be affected, such posting to be completed at least 10 days before the date set for the hearing. At the time set for the hearing or at any time to which the hearing may be continued the City Council shall hear and consider proposals to adopt a name for, or change the name of, the street mentioned in the notice and objections to such proposal. At or after the conclusion of the hearing the City Council may adopt, by resolution, a name for, or change the name of, such street. Thereafter, such street shall be known by the name so designated. Upon adoption of such resolution. The City Clerk shall promptly forward a copy of the resolution providing for such new name or change of name to the Orange County Board of Supervisors. The Director shall notify all public utilities, the Post Office, all emergency services, the County Tax Collector and any other interested person or special district of such name change prior to the change becoming effective by the placement of the new street name signs.
